I'm here.....

Well I am here in the USA. Where things are bigger but not always better.

I had a few issues getting here on the LA to DC leg.

Air New Zealand is so much better than United Airlines, I had no problems with the Air NZ flights even though the flight from Auckland to LA was full. I got to my seat on the United flight from LA to DC to find it not clear, there was a can of of coke split on the floor and rubbish left on the seat and in the front set pocket. I (nicely) pointed this out to the cabin attendant who said "well it's a bit late to get the cleaners back" and handed me a pile of paper to clean up the mess.

When we got to Washington at 6:00am we were waiting at the baggage claim carousel (as we were instructed), mean while the bags came out at another carousel with two other flights bags, what a shambles. The kicker was that there were airport staff standing around who seem know what was going on and having a bit of a laugh. I asked them how long the baggage would be and was told that it was at another claim area. No customer service there.

I told the other passengers on my flight and then the fun started as 3 flights tried to get thier bags from 1 carousel. Then a supervisor type women turned up and confirm that there was a mistake and our bags were on carousel 3 not 2 saying "it's the start of another day at Dulles Airport." so this must happen all the time. Of course the other 7 carousels near us had no bags on then at all.

I was lucky as I spotted my bag quickly and was able to grab it. The carousel was so full of bags the staff were taking them off the carousel which was adding to the confusion. I left to find my ride to the hotel.
